Born in Nyeri and grew up in Magadi Soda where to date, I consider it the best hottest (literaly) place for children to grow up in. Back then, this small town had only one bus that did only one back and forth trip to Nairobi daily. If one overslept, that was it. One had to wait till the next day. The situation was so bad, that one had to make sure that the bus driver knew you were traveling, so that he would hoot loudly from a far at 4:00am! This is all in the past now …

Married to Charles Mwangi for 11 years and I have two boys. Ben Mwangi (7 yrs) and Daniel Wanyoike (5yrs). Both boys attend Rosslyn Academy Ben – 1st grade and Wanyoike – Kg.

Working at Rosslyn has been a life opener for me. I have met people from all walks of life and I’ve really enjoyed working in different sections of the Administration. I’m currently working in the Business Office / Finance and in charge of the staff accounts.

I received my Music Education Degree with a vocal emphasis from Oklahoma Baptist University. I have taught in the music classroom in schools in Oklahoma, Texas and Maryland, as well as in several Home-School Coops. I have also worked with church choirs and directed various children’s musicals.
I am a US military wife. My husband, Shon, is currently serving the US Army here as a physician and researcher. Shon works with the Kenyan military and directs a program to test, treat and research HIV.

I am originally from Louisiana, but moved to Texas as a teenager. My wife, Jane, and I met at Wheaton College in Illinois. We have three children, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Michael. Texas was our home until we came to Kenya in 1997. Before coming to Rosslyn, I taught for 8 years in The Woodlands, Texas; and for 5 years at a Kenyan school in Mombasa.

* PET Scans: In graduate school, my physics research was on Positron Emission Tomography (a medical imaging process).
* Fractals & Chaos: I spent a number of years reading everything I could about fractals and chaos, and enormous amounts of time working with a team of programmers developing a software program called Fractint for generating fractals.
* Computer Programming: Back in the Dark Ages before graphing calculators were common in high schools, I wrote a graphing program and a matrix calculator program that were used in schools. (Thank goodness we have graphing calculators now.)

I am thankful for our Father’s calling to my family to join Rosslyn Academy this year. This is our first calling outside our home country and we are excited to grow and learn from the Kenyan and Rosslyn community. My vocational background includes teaching in public schools, collegiate coaching and private and public school administration. The enjoyment of this profession comes from watching young ladies and men grow in their spiritual, and personal maturity as they search for God’s calling in their lives. I am a recent addition to the staff this year to give the Science department specialists in the three major sciences of Physics, Biology and Chemistry. I come from Australia with some 36 years of teaching experience in a variety of school types and systems. These include 28 years in public education in New South Wales (rural and mining locations), Northern Territory (Alice Springs) and Western Australia. One of those years was an exchange position in a community college in northern British Columbia, Canada (Terrace) instructing their first year university chemistry course. The 8 years before coming to Kenya were in Christian Education in 2 country schools in New South Wales.

I trust and pray that God will enable me to use this experience fully in educating Rosslyn students. It is exciting for me to be in Kenya and to be teaching within an North American system. It is great to be part of the excellent team of teachers serving the Rosslyn community.

I came to Kenya as a missionary in September 2006, and it is my fourth year to teach as a Korean Teacher at Rosslyn Academy.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education as a major subject and as a minor subject, I have learned music at Jin-Ju Educational University. I also earned certificate for teaching mentally disordered students. I completed studying Korean as a Second Language course at Yun-Sae University.

I taught as an elementary teacher for 24 years in Korea and have experience of conducting marching bands for 7 years and choir winning first place in contests. I also received Education Ministry’s Award for researching how to make learning Korean fun and easy.

My husband and I work with AIC and my husband, Youngkew, is now ministering in Isiolo, Kenya.

I am a born again Christian Kenyan, born and brought up in Kenya. I’m married with three sons, two of whom go to Rosslyn Academy. I have been teaching and coaching swimming for the last 21 years. I love to support all children in knowing that they can all be swimmers. I have been selected as the Kenyan swim team coach for over 13 years and this last summer I took swimmers to San Francisco for the International Children’s Games (ICG). I also serve in the Nairobi Swimming Association (NASA). This is the body that organizes swimming competitions in Nairobi.
