HS ~~ Today Friday, May 24th at 3:45pm in the Eagletorium, there will be a special performance of the comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), by a group of RVA students. Come and enjoy a fun, family friendly play celebrating all the well-loved plays of Shakespeare, mash-up style! It is approximately 90 minutes long. Admission is free.

HS ~~ Any students who are registered in Intro to Photography first semester next year, and are needing to rent a camera, please come to collect your camera rental agreement from Mr. Kirkpatrick ASAP. First come First Serve.

7th Graders ~~ You will be honoring the 8th graders with a tea that immediately follows the promotion ceremony on Tuesday May 28. Your parents received an email from Mrs Garner and Mrs Hyodo telling you what food you need to bring. Please bring the food to the Drop-off or the school kitchen the morning of the tea, May 28. We can’t do this without 100% participation. Thanks 7 graders!

The finish line is in sight!!  By God’s grace, we are finishing strong!  Please note that the last two days of school, May 29 and 30, are both half days, with students dismissed at noon.

Yesterday was our “transition chapel”.  Miss Johnson reminded us that whether we are moving away from Rosslyn Academy, or saying good-bye to friends who are moving, or moving from elementary school to middle school, or facing other changes, we can face change without fear, and can “sniff out the new cheese”!  (Ask your child to explain.)

All library books are now past due.  Please check now to see if your child has any overdue books or fines so that you can be sure they will receive their final report card and yearbook.  Our librarian, Mrs. Gitonga, can be reached at: AngelaG@RosslynAcademy.com

Seniors need to fill out the yellow Final Transcript form and give it to Mary. This form will facilitate their official transcript being sent to colleges and universities. (Remember to circle on the form if the school accepts transcripts electronically on Naviance!)

ONLINE/EXTERNAL SUMMER COURSES: If you are planning to take a course over the summer (online or otherwise) please remember you must get this approved by Ms. Singleton or Mrs. Elmore in order for it to be placed on your transcript when you return to Rosslyn in August.

Rosslyn Academy Elementary Students will earn one “library dollar” for each book read during the June/July Break.  Please read books which are interesting and challenging to you, and record them on the attached form.  The maximum number of “library dollars” you can earn in this program is 50.  (But please do keep reading after reaching that amount!!)

During the first week of School (August 12^th-16^th), I will pay you with “library dollars” for the number of books you have read over the June/July break.   Then you will come “shopping” at Mrs. Gitonga’s Library Store.  The prizes you can buy with your “library dollars” include books, coupons to Planet Yogurt, and other exciting items.

During June and July, the elementary school library will be open only on the following Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm.

June 12^th, 2013              July 3rd, 2013

June 19^th, 2013              July 10^th, 2013

June 26^th, 2013              July 17^th, 2013

The students who travel out of the country can also participate by reading books from their nearest libraries.

Please have your parents sign on the form for each book read and return the form to Mrs. Kariuki or me during the holiday, or bring back the form the first week of school (on August 12^th or 13^th).

For Algebra-2 and above: Students are required to have a Texas Instruments TI-84+ (or better) graphing calculator. This is the most commonly used calculator in North American schools but it is difficult to find locally. If you do not have a way of getting one from North America, we have some available for purchase from the school.

For pricing and more detailed information about the various graphing calculator models, see the handout that was sent home this week with students.
