Guidance and Counseling

Guidance Office (Academic/College)

The Guidance Office consists of a full time Registrar (Pre-K through 12) and a full time high school Guidance Counselor. The Registrar is available to assist with admissions/registration information, admission testing, campus tours, report cards, transcripts, and maintaining student records. The Guidance Counselor is available to assist high school students (grade 9-12) with scheduling and course selection advice as well as work through their current academic concerns. Parents are welcome to inquire about their child’s academic progress as well as arrange meetings with teachers with the assistance of the Guidance Counselor.

The Guidance Counselor is also available to help students in making their college and post-secondary plans. University planning events are held each semester to assist parents and students as they navigate the college application and planning process. The Guidance Office offers an up to date library of college/university and career materials and also provides a computer where students can come to work on their applications or browse university websites. Each year numerous college representatives from around the world visit the Rosslyn campus to meet with our students and parents and are available to answer questions and provide first-hand information.

Rosslyn Academy is a testing center for SAT (SAT I), SAT Subject (SAT II), ACT, and AP. Registration for SAT must be done through Frise Holdings (phone number: 0719648129 or 0731377265). Registration for ACT must be done online at www.actstudent.org.

The Guidance Office also internally administers many other standardized tests each year including the Stanford for grade 9 students, PLAN for grade 10 students, and PSAT for grade 11 students. Registration for AP, PLAN, PSAT, and Stanford is done internally through Rosslyn Academy. United States universities require the TOEFL (Test of English Fluency) exam for international students who come from countries where English is not the primary language. Registration and testing information regarding the TOEFL can be obtained by contacting Frise Holdings (see phone number above).

Counseling Center

The Rosslyn Academy Counseling Department aims to work with students, teachers, parents and administrators to facilitate positive growth and change in the personal, social, developmental, emotional, and academic functioning of students. Our goal is to help each student develop his/her God-given gifts for Christ-like service in the world community by addressing their emotional, behavioral, and spiritual needs.

The Counseling Department works closely with the Resource Team and Student Life Network to implement and coordinate interventions that will help students reach their potential. In addition, the Counselors serve as consultants for teachers and administrators who are working with students who may be struggling with academic, social, or emotional problems.

The Counseling Department consists of 2 counselors: Elementary Counselor and the High School/Middle School Counselor.  Students may request an appointment with the counselor on their own, or they may be referred through their teachers, parents, and administrators.
