High School News
Dear High School Parents,
This last Rosslyn Reporter newsletter for 2011-12 brings to my memory an old television show that I watched as child. It was the “Roy Rogers Show” and it always ended with this song:
“Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy Trails to you, keep smiling until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we were together.
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy Trails to you until we meet again.’
It has been a fantastic year! The truth is that many in our community are in transition and our paths may diverge just ahead. May I take this last time to say, “The blessing of the Lord be in you and upon you. May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.” (I Thes. 5:23-24)
A last exam schedule and bus reminder:
Friday, May 25th 8:30 SCIENCE FINAL EXAM 11:00 FOREIGN LANGUAGE FINAL EXAM
Monday, May 28th 8:30 MATH FINAL EXAM 11:00 ENGLISH FINAL EXAM
Tuesday, May 29th 8:30 SOCIAL STUDIES FINAL EXAM
If your student does not have a final for one of these exams, they do not have to come. The second exam of Friday and Monday will finish at 12:30. You may pick your student up at that time or they may take the school bus to one of 5 drop-off locations (Sarit, ABC, YaYa, Lavington, or Junction).
May you continue to grow in Colossians 3:23!
Elementary School News
We’ve almost made it to the end of a successful school year!! To God be the glory! Thank you to each parent for supporting your children’s learning and for supporting the teachers and staff at Rosslyn Academy Elementary School.
Please help your children to get all their library books turned in and complete all their end of year assignments as we wrap up. Also, if your children would like to participate in our summer reading challenge (and earn a prize), they can collect the forms from the library.
Please note that May 29 and 30 are both half days of school. The children must be picked up at noon. (Or go home on the buses at noon.) Elementary School children may not “hang out” at school after noon on those days, even if they are planning to attend graduation on May 29. They must be picked up at 12 and then brought back for any afternoon events. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children safe and supervised.
We would love some parent volunteers to help us out during the last half day of school (Wed, May 30). We will be shifting classrooms and wrapping up the year. If you are available that morning, please let your child’s classroom teacher know.
Coming up for ES:
NOW All library books due
May 24 Elem. School Talent show, 2:00-3:15 pm, Eagletorium
May 29 Fifth Grade Promotion (10:30 am), half day of school for all students
May 30 Last day (half day – noon dismissal). Report cards come home.
Aug. 9 First day of the next school year.
Please feel free to come in to the Elementary School library this summer on Wednesdays (beginning June 13 and ending July 25), from 10 am to 1 pm, to read and borrow books. Bring the family, use the playgrounds, have a picnic, make a day of it!
The school supply lists for next year are up on the Rosslyn Academy website. You can find them under the “Our School” tab, under “Elementary School”, under “Documents”. They are here:
Thank you for entrusting your precious children to us this past school year. What a joy it has been to help them learn and grow in Christlikeness. Have a wonderful, restful June/July break, full of the goodness of God. See you in August!!!
