Girls B Volleyball (Last League)
This past Thursday, we took on ISK-A (junior varsity) in our last league game of the season. Both teams came out very strong in the first set, as evidenced by the long rallies back and forth. Our girls did such a great job serving, passing, and working to use all three hits on each possession. Despite playing well, we still fell behind ISK early in the first set. We picked up some momentum and rallied to make it a close set, though ISK ended up winning 25-20. The second set was similar to the first; we played well as a team and really hustled to the right spots, but ISK took the second set, and with it the match, 25-12. Though the match was over, I was proud of how the girls kept a positive attitude, and we ended up playing a third set “just for fun” against ISK. This last set gave the girls a chance to play some new and different positions; we had the girls choose where they wanted to play, meaning it was a game full of laughter and fun as they tried out some new spots on the court. It was a fun way to end our season!
Ladies, thank you for the privilege and honor of working with each one of you throughout the season. You should be very proud of your hustle and hard work and, overall, in the vast improvements that each one of you made during the past two months of volleyball! Thanks for a great season!

Help!! Hello. I am a Rosslyn Academy alumnus who is trying to help a colleague of mine, Laura Vogel. Laura is an engineering student at Stanford University who will be in Kenya for the summer working on solar electrification projects. Since she has never been to Africa before, she is looking for a place to stay from July 20th to Sept. 12th – preferably a family who has an extra room or a female with some space. She is willing to pay a fee for the duration of her stay.
Please contact dadeyemo@stanford.edu if you know someone or you are willing to help. Thank you, Dele Adeyemo

PLEASE ADOPT US… LOVING HOMES NEEDED BEFORE JUNE 7!!!
Kili is our strapping young 2 year old male. He is very gentle-spirited and mellow and loving, but strong and can run like the wind. He loves to be with his people and is happy both outdoors and inside.
Cinnamon is our meek 2 year old girl who loves nothing better than the attention of a belly rub She is happy to be outside most of the time, only comes in to the kitchen if her siblings have.
Ginger is our talkative 2 year old girl who is very affectionate and just plain funny. Her
Whole back-side wags when she wags her tail. She is happiest indoors in sight of her people.
The 3 siblings above were born in June of 2010. All four dogs have been fixed, and vaccinations are up to date. All the dogs are mostly outdoor dogs, though Kili and Ginger especially like being in the house with us when allowed to come in.
Mortimer is our gentle and sweet old fella. He was adopted from the KSPCA as a puppy in Oct. 2001 and has lived on the property of our house from well before we arrived in Kenya. He is still active and very loving and most comfortable outdoors keeping company with the gate guard.
We are leaving country in early JUNE. We would love to find a single home for all four, but will place them in pairs or singly as necessary. The dogs are great with children.
Please call Melinda at 0711983895 or Ron at 0700506517 if interested in adopting these wonderful dogs.
Hunter, better known as Kitty, Kenya’s coolest domestic feline. He is
about 6 years old, with all medical necessities completed, including neutering. He has an amazing personality and is never shy about communicating his feelings. When his bowl is empty, he will tell you. When you need to open the window for him to get out, he will tell you. When he wants in, he’ll open the doors, when he wants to hide in the closet, he’ll let himself in and out (and will often close the door behind him). When he does not appreciate that you let the dogs inside the house, he will smite you with his paws. When he wants to play, he will attack your feet (gently). When he is annoyed with you, he will attack your feet (somewhat less gently). When you have gone away for any time at all, he will let you know, both verbally and physically, how glad he is to see you back and then he will lecture you on not doing such a thing again.
Best of all, when he decides that it is time for you to be affectionate with
him, which is often, he will climb up on your lap and permit you to stroke him (top of head and under chin only, please, if you know what is good for you) while constantly licking your hand or arm with his sandpapery tongue (which can really peel skin after a while). Otherwise, he sleeps most of the day and night, in whatever seat pleases him, and, like a wonderful house guest, asks for very little else. He is the perfect blend of independence and dependence.
If you are interested in welcoming our best cat ever into your home, please give us a call as soon as possible at 070 050 6517 (Ron) or 071 198 3895 (Melinda).
