Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

April 2021 VLE Update

In line with the directives set forth by the Government of Kenya Rosslyn will be returning to online learning, until given the green light to resume in person learning.

Information relevant for all grade levels:

  • Start of Virtual Learning:  VLE begins on Tuesday March 30.

  • The Rosslyn school day:  We will follow the same time schedule as in-person learning – 8:30 – 3:30 Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 2:30 on Fridays.

  • Length of time with online learning:   We will return to In-person Learning as soon as possible.

  • Teaching format:  This will be similar to semester one, live but with individual and group breakout times.

  • Google Classroom:  Will be used for all assignments (written instructions), resources, readings, and submission of student work. (Similar to the use during Semester 1)

  • Extracurricular Activities: Due to government mandates, all sports, drama and after school activities will be on hold until further notice. 

Middle School and High School Schedule:  

Week of March 29 – April 2 

  • March 29 (Monday) – Teacher Workday

  • March 30 (Tuesday) – Opening VLE 2.0   All Period Day – check in with teachers and set up VLE.

  • March 31 (Wednesday) – GreenDay  

  • April 1 (Thursday) – Silver Day (early dismissal)  

  • April 2 – Good Friday (no school) 

Week of April 5 – April 9

  • April 5 – Easter Monday (no school)

  • April 6 and April 8 Green Days 

  • April 7 and 9 Silver Days

Weeks of April 12 – onwards (until a return to In-person learning is possible)

  • Monday – All Period Days

  • Tuesday and Thursday – Green Days

  • Wednesday and Friday- SIlver Days

Additional HS and MS Information:

  • The HS/MS  All Period Day will move to Mondays in VLE.  

  • Chapel will occur virtually on Silver Wednesdays.  

  • Homeroom will take place at the end of the Silver Fridays as it occurs now.

  • Homework and Assessments: HS and MS teachers will aim to assign only reasonable amounts of homework during VLE with consideration for weekends. 

Elementary School Schedule:   

The school day will run from 8:30 – 2:30 with Core classes in the morning and Specials in the afternoons. (A detailed schedule and additional information will be emailed out by the Acting Elementary Principal, Tyler Heugel, and/or your classroom teacher).
